AUSTRALIA HAS EXTENDED POST – STUDY WORK RIGHTS

The Australian Government has announced a planned increase in the duration of post-study work rights for international students eligible for a Temporary Graduate Work visa (subclass 485).

Students who are studying below degrees will have Temporary Graduate Work visa (subclass 485) stay period increases of:

  • Whoever has done bachelor degree graduates will now get 4 years of work visa which was 2 years previously.
  • Whoever has done Master’s degree graduates will now get 5 years of work visa which was 3 years previously.
  • Whoever has done Ph.D. graduate will now get 6 years of work visa which was 4 years previously.

This will mean they can stay on longer and use the skills they’ve gained in Australia to help fill some of the chronic skills shortages Australia have right now.
