What is Federal Skilled Worker Program

FSW is a point-based system, where a candidate needs to score at least 67 points, and their mode of occupation should be under NOC 0, A, or B to apply under the FSW scheme of express entry.

This program is your ticket to Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) and is conducted via points calculation called the CRS- Comprehensive Ranking System, which in total comprises 1200 points.

Your first 600 points and eligibility are generally calculated based on your Experience, Age, Education, English Language Proficiency, Spouse’s Education, and Language proficiency. The remaining 600 are gathered via a provincial nomination or a prospective employment offer in Canada.

Requirements and Eligibility Criteria for FSW:
  • Passing points is 67 out of 100
  • You must have worked at least 1560 hours in the same NOC Skill category (0, A, or B) within the past ten years
  • Your skilled work experience should be paid
  • You must achieve the required score in the language proficiency test stated by CLB
  • Your test results should not be less than two years old
  • You must have adequate education from a Canadian institute, else you must provide an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) from a designated institute if you have a foreign education
  • Normal processing time is around six months
