New Visa Center In Dresden To Centralize Application Process In Schengen Area
- The Czech Republic will centralize the processing of all long-term visa and residence permit applications submitted in the Schengen Area to a new consular office located in Dresden, Germany.
- Effective 1 May 2023, the visa centre of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Dresden will receive and process all applications for visas and residence permits within the Schengen area. Other Czech consulates within the Schengen Area will cease processing of long-term visa and residence permits submitted by foreign nationals.
What are the Changes?
The new office is intended to provide timely and standardized processing of visa and residence permit applications from throughout the Schengen area. According to the government announcement, the consular office will be open to appointments via email beginning March 15, 2023.
The Czech Republic Visa Application Requirements
You will need to meet the following requirements when applying for a Czech Republic visa:
- Valid Passport: You must have a valid passport with at least two blank pages and a validity period of at least 90 days beyond your intended stay in the Czech Republic.
- Visa Application Form: You will need to complete and sign a visa application form. You can obtain the form from the Czech Republic Embassy or Consulate in your home country, or you can download it from their website.
- Photographs: You will need to provide two recent color passport-size photographs that meet the Czech Republic visa photograph requirements.
- Proof of Accommodation: You will need to provide evidence of your accommodation in the Czech Republic, such as a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in the Czech Republic.
- Proof of Financial Means: You will need to provide evidence that you have sufficient financial means to cover your stay in the Czech Republic, such as bank statements or a letter from your employer stating your salary.
- Travel Itinerary: You will need to provide a detailed itinerary of your travel plans in the Czech Republic, including flight reservations and details of any other travel arrangements.
- Travel Health Insurance: You will need to provide proof of travel health insurance that covers medical expenses and repatriation in case of illness or injury during your stay in the Czech Republic.
- Visa Fee: You will need to pay a visa fee when you submit your application. The fee amount may vary depending on the type of visa and your nationality.
Additional Czech Visa Requirements Based on Your Employment Status
Additionally, you will need to submit some extra documents when applying for a visa to Czech Republic, according to your employment status, as follows:
If employed:
- Employment contract
- Current bank statement of the latest 6 months
- Leave permission from the employer
- Income Tax Return (ITR) form or Certificate of Income Tax deducted at the source of salary
If self-employed:
- A copy of your business license
- Company bank statement of the latest 6 months
- Income Tax Return (ITR)
If a student:
- Proof of enrollment
- No-objection certificate from school or university
- Advertisements
If retired:
- Pension statement of the latest 6 months
If applicable:
- Proof of regular income generated by property, for the last 6 months
